I heard things are going well at the Heights with Scott Harding definitely confirmed for season 2011. From all reports new Assistant coach Matt "Mocca" O'Conner is loving it down there under legend Chris Johnson.

Terrific win by Avondale yesterday! Great effort by Chris Johnson to keep his team motivated when they are not playing for finals or to avoid relegation. Its a bit similar to last year where they did not start well but Johnson still kept them fighting in every game and eventually the rewards came. Can anyone who saw the game shed any light on how they turned it around in the last quarter to win it? I see Johnson and Grabowski kicked 4 and 3 respectively and classy players Magin and Sutcliffe were said to have had good games. Obviously a great return for a couple of smaller players to kick 7 goals between them, Grabowski is very talented young player. I think next year with a few good recruits and bit more luck with injuries the Heights can mount a serious challenge for finals.

Matty Pillios has informed me that Chris Johnson and Matthew O'Connor have lured out of retirement former Avondale Heights strong man Boris Janezic to line up on Wayne Carey next week. Janezic has been known for his strength and compared to Glen Jakovich and could worry the King!

Avondale have signed Phil Lobb, who is a gun from Kerang along with a mate for season 2012.
It will be an interesting year for the Heights and with afew key recruits and some consistency from their stars, then they can push the top 4. If not they will be in a dog fight with 4 other clubs to avoid relegation.
They are well coached and have great foundations behind the scenes.

I hear Avondale have signed Sam Keenan from Yarrawonga. He is the son of Crackers and by all reports are very handy ruckman. I get the feeling Avondale are flying under the radar a bit but could very competative in 2012

ANZAC DAY Game @ Avondale Hts today where they take on the strong Aberfeldie FC.
Rug up, get down and support the Avondale Hts FC in the first A Grade EDFL Anzac Day game.
Avondale's season is on the line and I reckon they will give Aberfeldie a real shake today.

I just personally would like to CONGRATULATE one of Avondale Heights favorite son's Maurice "Mocca" Iunella tomorrow who will play his 300th Senior game for the Avondale Heights FC.
Maurice orginally a Westmeadows FC junior and been back there during some senior seasons, has been a great footballer on the field and fantastic personality off the field.
