Happy new year to all players, supporters, parents, volunteers, officials and sponsors. The 2011 will be fast upon us and so we thought it was time to give you the latest news and updates. We look forward to seeing you and your continued support in season 2011.

Help Wanted!
The Keilor Football Club prides itself in the wonderful volunteer support we receive each year. In 2011 – the club needs to fill a number of important roles. If you have the skills and time available to help, please consider contributing to the success of the club by nominating for one of the following roles.

Canteen Coordinator
You will be responsible for all purchasing, setting menu for Thursday night meals and canteen on match days (Fri, Sat, Sun) and managing volunteers. There will some remuneration as this role is critical to the club’s finances.

Website Administrator
Help keep all people involved with Keilor up to date by managing the club’s website. In this ever increasing digital world this is a key role. You have the skills to manage a content management system that will enable you to manage and produce website content. You will be able to make changes to website on a weekly basis and should display a keen knowledge of the club. Ability to write online content and upload photos.

Sponsorship Manager
A dedicated person is required to manage existing sponsors and develop new business relationships. This is an Executive position that plays a major role in securing the club’s financial sustainability.

Social Coordinator – Person required to communicate and promote all Social Functions to players, club members and sponsors. This is an Executive Role.

Senior Update


Senior Coaching appointments 2011
Mick McGuane has been reappointed senior coach for 2011. The Seniors commenced training pre-Christmas in a bid to avenge last years’ disappointing finish to the season.

We are also proud to announce the welcome return of a 300 gamer and Life Member in Andrew Lambropoulos as A Reserve Coach for season 2011. Rambo, as he is affectionately known, spent last year as Assistant Coach at Sydenham Hillside and was eager to return home when he was approached for the role. We have the utmost confidence in Rambo’s work ethic, knowledge of the game, and his love of our club to know that success, as history shows, will follow him. He will work closely with Mick and ensure our supporting roles are quality all the way.

We are also proud to welcome back to our Club Shane Harvey-Little as Under 18 A Coach. Shane will be ably supported by his right hand man in Trewren Williams. Both guys had enormous success in the late 90’s and early 2000’s with our under 16 sides and many of the current younger brigade of players will have come through their coaching reign. Again, success is something that these guys are used to and with the talent coming through our juniors, we believe the supervision, learning and polish that they will impart to our boys will ensure that Shane and Trewren will again enjoy that sweet taste of success.

And whilst talking of tasting success, we are very proud to announce that Tony Lanciano will again coach the Under 18 C side. Everyone will remember that Tony guided the Under 18 C side to the Grand Final victory last year and speaking with him last week he is eager to go back to back. And knowing Tony and his will to win we have no doubt that he is just the man to do it.

So to all the Coaches we reaffirm our commitment to support them in Season 2011 and wish them all the success we know they deserve.

Senior and Under 18 Training
Training for all Senior and U18 players recommences next Monday 31 January at the club.




Junior Update


Junior Registration Day
Sunday 13 February
9am - 11am.
Keilor Football Club

Put this date in your diary. In a new streamlined registration process, junior registration will be completed online for 2011. Details on how to register will be contained on the club’s website and in an information letter to be mailed soon to existing players.

Under 16 Training
Under training will commence on Monday 31 January at Brimbank Park Car Park B from 5pm to 6.30pm.

Under 12 Coaching Positions
A number of coaching positions are still available at U12 level. This is a chance to make a real contribution to the club and development of young footballers. Interested persons should call Dianne Evans on 0418147812

Any truth to the rumours that things arent going that well down at Keilor??? whispers coming out some players are very unhappy??

Heard that Garth and Pask are not getting on , causing big problems.

Watched the game on the weekend, Keilor not defensive at all, was just a shoot out, they were lucky they had Garth playing, still one of the better forwards in the comp.

Does anybody know when Andrew Nicholson will play seniors for Keilor??? For sure he would have to be in there best team.

im looking forward to seeing if Keilor can match it with Greenvale and Marby when they play.

Big Mick is under the pump at Keilor.

He has the cattle but they cant perform at the present, next few weeks will tell!
Nicholson should be in there best team .
Garth I heard is causing some problems down there with other players.
Maybe some Keilor people may be able to tell us.

have heard similar, supposedly Pask and Garth do not get along from there playing days in VFL but i thats only hearsay, Mick seems to be scraping the bottom of the barrel with the late training sessions and the mid week practice matches.....

Has been a great coach and won them some games from the bench but he may be getting a little stale at Keilor, from their effort against us they certainly dont look even a shadow of the side we played last year

I'm not sure if it's Mick getting stale as he's obviously a quality coach and has a huge impact on his players and in the current climate not sure if anyone else would make much of a difference.
There will always be players who aren't best of mates but if there's open conflict it would certainly make things a hell of a lot more difficult for everyone involved.
I've only heard mumblings of if/what the issue may be but if it's affecting the sides performance one of the two may need to be moved on.

Watched the game on the weekend against Avondale and couldnt believe that number 15 kicked out at a keilor player, the umpire reported him but didnt send him off??
Then i see he only gets 3 weeks??
I am not sure that sends a good message, one of the worst, lowest acts in my opinion..!

More bad news for Keilor with young gun James Papalia to undergo a full knee reconstruction. We all wish him the best with his rehabilitation!

Heard Mick looking elsewhere for next season! Anyone from Keilor heard anything.

He has been there a while now Mick, so would be no suprise if he left there.

With John Rambo assistant, I wonder if they might throw the job to him. He might try to entice back Towner, Whichello, Buttergieg & build a team from there.

Mick is committed for 2 years. Andy Rambo is reserves & back coach. No chance of the Marby boys coming back to Keilor.
