I believe there was a pretty important and nasty clash at Keilor yesterday. Pask v Towner?? My word is both threw some, with Pask coming off the worst with a facial injury. Though it did leave MP 1 short for a quarter. Interesting to see what comes of it?? Can anyone who was there shed some light?

Towner got 5 weeks. Having read all the varying posts on here and the other site I think it may be pretty close to fair. Whether provoked or not I guess the league can't stand for punches causing serious injuries... MP will miss his hardness, but will have him back fresh for the business end on the positive side... Does anyone know the prognosis for Pask?

Gutsy win by Keilor yesterday against an in-form Avondale team. If Keilor role Abers this week then they are still a chance for finals as they get a crack at Marby as well. Obviously they need a lot of luck but no doubt Mick will have them fighting to the very end. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's something 18 years since Keilor have missed out on finals, fantastic effort.

What a great game of local footy between Abers and Keilor yesterday. A really tough and entertaining game of footy with plenty of goals, which Keilor deservedly won. I thought Abers tried hard all day and showed character especially without a few of their stars. I'm sure a lot of Abers people will be frustrated with how the season has lost momentum but the effort was there and if not for their poor field kicking they would have won the game. But you have to give credit to Keilor as a lot of the time it was their pressure that forced the mistakes. Keilor got numbers to the contest all day and also dropped players back to chop off time and again the passes coming out of the Abers backline.
Both teams enjoyed small leads at different times during the day with neither able to break the game open until finally Keilor got on top in the last minutes to win by 3 goals. During the second quarter Abers rallied from about 15 points down to lead by the main break and again they were down in the third quarter but fought back into the contest. Keilor had to fight back in the last quarter as Abers hit the front twice in the early stages on the back of two goals from Jess Rush (BOG) on the boundary line in front of the faithful. Keilor responded to the Abers challenge. The pivotal moment came in the last quarter when Rabee turned the ball over which resulted in a Keilor goal. That was the moment and Keilor seized their opportunity. Soon after Nicholson kicked another crucial goal on the run from 40 metres to shift the momentum to Keilor. The sight of the former Abers player doing what he does best brought back memories of two under 18's premierships where Nicho slotted vital goals on the run from 50.
Keilor were the better team on the day and missed a lot of shots at goal throughout the game which could have increased the final margin. Abers were their own worst enemy at times with kicking letting them down too often but the intent and the effort was there which is the main thing. They are a very young side and are only going to get better.
The centre clearances were a real strength for Keilor all day, they consistently got centre breaks and were able to hit up their forwards. Garth was their most dangerous forward, kicking a bag of goals but they got solid contributions from Pask, James and Dylan Joyce. The absence of Craven coupled by the injury to Norden meant Abers could not match the forward strength of Keilor. It really hurt the two blues structure when Norden went off as they then had to move young mid-sized defender Hutchesson, who was doing a good job of marking Joyce, onto Garth. Hutchy was still pretty good on Garth but no doubt the Abers defence was stretched without their two key defenders. Houli kept Pask quiet for most of the game while also providing plenty of drive from the backline. It was a great match up all game with both players rolling the dice and running off their opponent. I think Houli was the better player but Pask was still handy for Keilor and kicked a goal int he last quarter to seal the contest.
Their were plenty of ugly incidents and the game nearly boiled over at half time with both teams exchanging words and venting their frustration at the umpires. Can't say much more on this.
Anyway, getting back to the footy, it was a really entertaining contest that Keilor deservedly won. They are a team that work hard to get numbers around the contest. They switch the ball well and have a lot of run allowing them to hurt their opposition on the rebound. Unfortunately, they probably can't make finals but they showed they are willing to fight to the very end.
Best players:
Keilor: James, Garth, Joyce, Nicholson
Abers: Rush, Houli, Allen, R. Glassford, Meredith

Yeah and apologies for not having extensive list of Keilor best players but I got confused between a lot of your players and without a record on hand it was a bit difficult. I think its a credit to the style that you guys seem to have 22 very even contributors but I remember seeing a lot of number 24 and 29 I'm pretty sure and Tim Moore played well down back. You're a completely different team now with Garth and Micca back. A couple more recruits next year and you'll be back where you belong because no doubt you have decent depth it's just you lack maybe a couple genuine stars.
