I spoke to EDFL Board Director Matty Pillios who said he was there at the game with Senior President Ian Price and the Keilor victory was very impressive in front of a strong home crowd.
Matty said the game was very even all day with none of the teams having a huge break at any stages other than Keilor early in the last. Barling and Garth's match up for the first 3 quarters was top shelf footy and he mentioned Keilor were smart with the numbers back assisting Brad Clifton who did well on Livingston up forward. Keilor's yougsters in Mick Teal, Barnesy's son (only 17 y.o), Manning and a few others were very impressive.
He did note that the experienced brigade of Rick Marcy, Rod Van Riet, Dylan Joyce, Jim Messis, Mikka James and Daniel Cooper were all impressive for Keilor FC.
His best for Marby were Shylo Smith, Jake Desousa, Chris Kelly, Jackson Barling and Brendon Hollow who were not disgraced.
He did also want me to mention that it was great to see so many fantastic ex Keilor supporters at the football despite the colder weather and the umpires did a good job.

Matt's summary of game not bad - I certainly would n't include Cooper thought he had an ordinary day. Barnes has been good every time he gets an opportunity. Both sides had a couple missing but you can only play with what is available.

ROUND 16, KEILOR V ABERFELDIE Five goals in a row in an impressive third quarter set up victory and kept the Blues faint finals hopes alive in tough conditions today. Down at half time after leading early Keilor dominated the third quarter with quick fire goals. Star players Marcy, Garth, Cooper and Papalia all lifted to swing the momentum back in the Blues favour in the second half. Abers rallied in the last quarter but could not get any closer than three goals before Keilor sealed victory with late goals. Johnno Mullins was Abers' clear stand out playing a terrific four quarter game. Al Kefford was another great player for the Gorillas but skill errors and ill discipline hurt Abers chances of victory. Overall a deserved victory for Keilor who showed there is still plenty of life in their season. With third spot secured Abers will need to find form and motivation leading into finals, while Keilor will need two wins against the in form Pascoe Vale and Doutta Stars to force a finals rematch. After today's result Abers may want a chance to square the ledger.
FINAL SCORE
KEILOR - 98 ABERS - 70

Keilor welcome back Nick Condos and get Trajovski with him from Deer Park. However Trajovski has a poor tribunal record and misses the first 6 games. Condos will also miss games throughout the year. Add Day and Sankovic also from Deer Park. Word is Armstrong is heading back too.

Injured in the latter part of the year.

Keilor had a solid hitout against Barwon Heads, getting up in the end by 39pts. New recruits Browne, Cartelli and Gourdis were the best for a Keilor side who had a few out.

Some quality additions and continued improvement from their younger guys & with arguably the best coach in the league at the helm I'm tipping Keilor to bounce back after a disappointing 2012 season.

This is true but not sure whether they will get a warning or the points given to Avondale? It happended to Douttas a good few years back and they lost points so you'd think that is a precedent. Think it was complicated by the different clearance system for VFL players but not entirely sure. Does anyone what the outcome of the hearing was?

My mail is James Condos is a lock for the Keilor coaching job next year.
Mick has done an outstanding job over the years but its time for both parties to move on.
James is well respected down at Keilor and his knowledge of the league/players is fantastic.

Spoke to Matty Pillios and he told me he is confident the KFC will retain the service of Mick McGuane for 2014 and James Condos is likely to play for KFC after surgery.
Good signs for Keilor and I expect them to move up the ladder.

Fantastic news for the E.D.F.L with Mick McGuane reappointed for season 2014. After a huge month of discussions and with Mick advising he would rather be no other club than Keilor FC the club has committed to the man the call "the Master".
