Barry Brooks just got back from playing afew games in Darwin and apparently looks stronger and fitter then ever. Another big year coming up for the reigning comp B&F winner.

Massive loss for the Eagles with young gun Stevie Boyall playing at the Northern Bullants. His boss and Ex Cburn Coach = Gavin Langbourne is now Asst Coach at the Bullants. However Stevie Baker is in talks with a BIG recruit/ex team mate........

Have been informed that ex - teammate is Michael Gardiner & he singed last night.
Would be massive for the comp with big Gardy in it!!

Brooks has signed at Pascoe Vale FC for 2012.

Craigieburn lost to Montmorency by over 10 goals on the weekend at Craigieburn. Montmorency are very strong across the board and will contest the A grade NFL flag this year. Best players for the Eagles were Baker, Brooks and Fricker with Lekkas playing deep forward.
If they Eagles can keep these guns fit and ingury free as well as Hall, Davies and Boyall then they will be competitive most weeks.
The only question is Cburn's depth.
Good luck with season 2012, the Eagles will be better then people think!!!!

The eagles played another NFL powerhouse on the weekend and lost by about 12 goals. Bundoora are the reigning NFL Premiers and have many superstars across the board.
Even though the eagles have been smashed the last 2 weeks (Monty & Bundoora) they still have some positives signs. Great Midfield/Ruck combination - one of the best in the comp.
I have been told Barnard has been ruthless this pre season and is demanding the club improves in many areas. After every game he will write ALL players name's up on the board and you either have a tick, 50/50 or a cross. If you get a cross, two weeks in a row then you are dropped to the reserves.
It would be interesting to see if Brooks or Baker get a cross 2 weeks in a row and weather they get dropped??? Interesting theory/strategy and could keep players on their toes but it could be controversial? Could this show that the Senior Coach is feeling the pressure on the last year on his contract - make or break year for the eagles in 2012.

Interesting to hear that Gareth Fricka has asked for a clearance? Fricka has been a very consistant player over the past 3 seasons with the eagles since he came over from Montmorency.

Massive day at Craigieburn FC today when former past Premiership Captain Daniel "Nugg" Nolan who is very popular in the EDFL and has been a huge success since coming across to Pascoe Vale, will Captain Pascoe Vale today against his old club.
Back at the old ground on Craigieburn Road, this will be a great game of football with Craigieburn already playing for there season to avoid being 0 - 3 and with Randallo and Franchina out they may be a chance.
Good luck Daniel Nolan.
PASCOE VALE by 38 points.

Interesting to hear that Cburn trained until 9:15pm on Tuesday night. It was an intense training session with alot of hard running involved. I have been told there are some VERY sore bodies!!!
This could come back to hurt the eagles on Saturday when they play against Duotta Stars who are young/fast on probably the biggest ground in the comp.
This is the biggest game for the club in the last 5 years, lose this and could be facing relegation. Win and all the pressure goes onto the Stars.
Barnard coaching for his career.
This should be the match of the round - it wont be the best spectacle of the round but so much on the line for both teams.
Baker has been quite and expect a big game from the small man.

I had heard that there may have been a couple of players looking elsewhere? I know this is a well worn path, but my source is pretty good... Apparently a call was made to a former player regarding possible movement of 5+ players?? Anyone else heard anything?

It's really amazing how people are going on about this. Let's be honest, he has gone up there to try and make the club into a force and all i have heard over the last 3 years is, its too hard, he is upsetting people, doesnt care enough about the players!
He has been given a job, instead of starting rumours or people trying to undermine him, why havent people supported him in the right manner. He has tried to change the culture and turn it into a better club, but somehow i dont think people want to embrace the change.
Good luck to him for the rest of his tenure there and good luck to the next person that will take over.

Spot on Bircksta, couldn't believe when speaking to Cragieburn people last year how many were so negative about Barnard. They wanted him out last year and I remember hearing that sponsors were very vocal in terms of who they wanted. If true, to me it is very odd that any sponsor would have any say in who coaches the team but obviously I am not in the tent so this is just based on speaking to supporters.
I thought last year they were heading in the right direction with a number of young blokes playing alongside champion veterans. I think the losses of Nolan and Lance in consecutive years really takes its toll. Maybe a new voice in Lekkas will turn thins around if rumours that he will be sacked are true.

Thats all well and good and sounds great in theory but in reality the only reason the likes of Nolan and Lance along with plenty of others are no longer there is because they wont play under him.
55 people applying for clearances since his time at the club does not look good
