Any truth to the rumour of Abers in talks with another high-profile recruit?

Can someone from Aberfeldie tell me anything about a guy called Adam Jacobs ? Is now playing at Laverton in WRFL div 2 and they are talking him up to be a gun.
Was he a senior or reserve player ?

DC Jaco has played predominately 2's footy at Abers with limited senior games over the past 5 years. He was a star junior, played at full forward/CHF mostly! He's got strong hands and is a good kick for goal especially from long range. Good luck and good to see Doc and H playing well.

Abers are the suprise team of the year so far, but will be really tested in a few weeks against Marby & then Greenvale.
They have been nowhere near these two sides over the past 4 years. That will be the test.

From edflfooty.com's newest Ambassador Julian Larkins. ABERFELDIE VERSUS GREENVALE (Clifton Park) A cracker of a game between Abers and the Jets this week at the gorilla den. As Abers coach John McMillan has said, with every week the expectations on this young Abers team grows. If the two blues win this they are are cemented in the four and should make finals. Likewise, the Jets will be confident of finals if they win with a number of key home games against finals rivals in the second half of the year. No doubt in the back of some Abers supporters minds will be the embarrassing defeats suffered at the hands of the Jets over the years. By my count, 1 win and 11 consecutive losses have been inflicted on Abers by their unforgiving tormentors since the Jets were promoted to A Grade. Let's not forget the painful 90-odd point thrashing in early 2008 when Abers were flying and last year's humiliating belting where Abers kicked one goal for the entire match. It's fair to say that Aberfeldie FC will have a point to prove. Yet Greenvale have shown time and time again what a great club they are. In the last 5-6 years they have dominated the EDFL A Grade competition. Perhaps in somewhat new terrirory this year, they now find themselves no longer the top dog under new head coach Anthony Rock. The Jets appear to be happily going under the radar to an extent, and no doubt will be well prepared to take the points away from home. Watch out for the hard tag on Peverill. Greenvale and Abers statistically are the number one and two best defences in the competition. Abers have only conceded 100 points once in a narrow victory over Oak Park, whereas Greenvale are yet to allow triple figures against their name. On the other hand, compared to other finals contenders both teams are not kicking enough goals. Aberfeldie's laid-back Ben Colllins, now with a cult following and some creative nic-names to-boot, has been fantastic up forward with consistent bags of goals against quality opposition, but it's fair to say that more goal kickers need to emerge for the two blues to be genuine premiership contenders. Young key forward Julian 'the Spaniard' Suarez, and by own admission cousin of Uruguay's and Liverpol's Luis Suarez, well deserves his place in the senior team with 5 goals against Avondale and another good showing against Marby last round. I expect a few more surprises up forward which could give the Jets some headaches. Greenvale have a number of proven goal kickers with Lucas, Thompson, Bloomfield and Gazzo all having solid seasons but obviously need to find more avenues to goal to go the distance in finals.
WHERE THE GAME WILL BE WONAberfeldie have controlled the midfield all year and been dominant in centre clearances and contested football. Midfield generals Haoucher, Peverill and Skipworth have all used their wealth of experiecne to influence games from the middle of the park. Down back, young guns Craven and Norden have been twin towers of strength and 'the Great' Adam El Houli is on fire wherever he plays. The obvious match-up will be Houli on Lucas, but then again Macca may wish to use the versatile Houli further up the ground to hurt the Jets. If Abers are to win then they need to find a match-up for Gazzo as the Italian Stallion has a habit of bobbing up to punish the two blues. A crucial factor for the Jets will be the likely absence of star player Chris Johnson who may miss due to a hamstring. Raines likewise is a major absentee but the Jets depth is strong with gun players Jorgo and Rohan having stellar seasons. If the Jets are to win they need to use their run and carry and not get bogged down in the contests. They will need to find a match-up for the man mountain Mal, with Potter the likely victim if he goes forward. The Jets tall timber down back in Smith and new recruit Cam Wight will be vital for Greenvale to gain ascendency. In summary, I don't want to bet against history. The Jets will win this one by the skin of their teeth and again show the EDFL world that you can never discount a champion. Given the expected conditons and the strength of each team’s defence I expect this one to be a game for the small forwards and most likely a low scoring affair. One thing is for sure, it will be yet another fantastic game for a very exciting finals race. It'd be great to see a Greenvale perspective on this game!

A very good detailed post there from Julian "Boo" Larkins.
This is a massive test for Aberfeldie. But most of these players may not remember those hidings from Greenvale in the past. The keys are Pev, Mal & Skipworth. When these guys are on song, it gives the younger brigade a massive lift.
Will be a cracker of a game.

Great write up mate, The game will won and lost in the midfield from a Greenvale perspective shutting down Peverill and Rabee is the key as they feed and influence Abers other important players. Houli was given a bath last year so no doubt will be keen to remind everyone why he's one of the best defenders in the comp. Between the sides Abers may have the better midfield while Greenvale may have better talls. In that regard it'll be interesting to see how the coaches try to maximise their advantages. Looking forward to what is no doubt one of the biggest games of the season.

Full credit to Aberfeldie for their work on and off the field this year. Its fantastic for the competition to have the 2 blues back up the top. Can Rabee Haoucher win another medal?

It is really exciting after years of struggling to be competative. Rioli set the foundation by developing a lot of kids who won the 2008 u18 flag. He got senior games into them and now Abers are starting to reap the rewards...obviously recruiting the ex-essendon boys helps as well!!

Can anyone explain what has happened to Aberfeldie over the past month? They were on top of the ladder not so long ago with a fantastic record and now look like missing the finals. Are they that good or were they simply playing above themselves?

Luke Kinniburgh is one of the few old school players left in the competition. He does not need to train 3 times a week over Summer, likes to have a can in the showers & loves getting amongst the lads. Sources tell me he would be going very close to the seconds B&F's. All the young lads look up to Luke as on game day he leads by example. Gives 110% in each & every contest. In the seconds BOG gets $50, Luke will hand it to a young player & tell him to share in between the boys. Great to see him get a game in the firsts, but I am sure he is looking forward to finals with his old mate Donza.
