The scoreboard stated otherwise. A number of the players are under the impression it was a 5/6 goal win too.

A really strong win by the Jets over Avondale yesterday. The midfield and defence were borering unbeatable and Bloomfield up forward was too strong kicking 7. With Watts, Raines and Gazzo coming back via the twos the side can only get stronger.

Greenvale got up by 10 goals over EDFL powerhouse Maribyrnong Park. Kuret & Nayna were great in the middle for the jets and Ricky Fandrich was lively up forward. Ayres and Philpott were great for Marby.

Spoke with EDFL board member Matty Pillios who said the game was an outstanding high level game of football infront of a massive crowd.
He thought that overall it didn't warrant a 10 goal for Marby, but stated Greenvale FC are definately the real deal for the Flag in 2012 and have improved over the past few seasons.
Greenvale's finishing was the main difference that gave them a 4 goal lead at half time after the game was pretty even in most departments.
The Jets last 7 -8 minutes of the 3rd qtr was the key kicking a few goals to get to a 6 goal 3/4 time lead.
The last qtr saw Marby kick the first early and have various chances until the very brilliant Jets kicked away, adding some goals late to extend the win to an impressive 62 point victory.
Great games from Farrelly, Chris Johnson, Nanya, Kuret, Dean Smith, Captain Rohan acroos HB and Fandrich up forward gave GV a sensational win. Capisano was very solid on the dangerous Livingston.
For Marby, Hollow & Ayres were very good, Barling destroyed his opponants, Philpot was the better bigman across the ground and Whichello was very good.
Matty also mentioned "the game was played in great spirits, it was hard & fair and a great showcase for EDFL footy"..

Greenvale put on a dominant performance at home against Keilor. Demolishing the EDFL: powerhouse by 90 odd points. Sammy Zumbo was lively up forward kicking 6. He and Ricky Fandrich have really added a new element to the Greenvale forward set up as their pace gices them to ability to catch opposing defences out of position. The midfield was ferocious in it's attack and left Keilor spectating for the second half as they took over the game after a reasonably even first half. Garth was lively up forward for the visitors kicking 3 from limited opportunities and proving for mine why he's the best forward in the comp. Best: Greenvale: Zumbo, Potter, Nayna, C Johnson, D Smith and J Smith Keilor: Garth, Joyce, Van Riet

Greenvale thumped Douttas, the scoreline flattered the Jets in the end after overrunning EDS in the second half. Plenty to look forward to for the Stars, plenty of dash and skill through the middle. When they add a few more strong bodies and a more defensive mindset and they'll challenge the better sides. Disappointing for the Jets was the loss of Jorgo with a hamstring injury early in the game. Best for Greenvale were Kuret, Nayna, Wight and C Johnson. Best for Doutta were Langtry, Lynch and Whelan
It was good to see Chris Smith and Ben Hakim down at the club watching their old side run around.

I thought DS were actually lucky to have stayed close as long as they did... DS clearly have some talented kids and pure speed, but relied on being fwd of the ball and hoping they won contests, which most of the day GV didn't allow. Great to see a GV side with plenty of familiar faces and heaps of new local boys!! They are going to be difficult to topple... Looking forward to the SM and Abers matches coming up...!

Greenvale got up comfortably over a front running Oak Park side. Joey Gazzo kicked 8 for the Jets and Eric Kuret was dominate in midfield. A plus was Nick Raines' b.o.g. performance in the 2's in his comeback from his knee reco. With him, Jorgo, Bloomfield and Spinella to come back into the side the Jets are looking really good.

Also missing Jorgo and Bloomfield from the weekends best 22 along with what looked like another injury to the flexible Watts!

Three very strong wins for the jets today over a struggling Craigieburn side. In the seniors Wight & Potter were dominate up forward while Nayna and Uysal were great through the middle of the park. Chris Farchiones delivery into the forward line was first rate. Unfortunately Farrelly went down with quite a bad looking leg injury which will be a bit of a blow coming into the big clash against Aberfeldie next week. For Craigieburn I was really impressed by Bryce Malls game though i think he'd be better suited not playing a defensive role as generally when he got his hands on it good things happened.

Very big game tomorrow, realy looking forward to finally seeing the form side of the comp and hopefully it will be a close contest though by the sounds of it both teams have got a few outs. Abers missing quite a few big names from their line-up but have got some decent inclusions as well. I think it will be interesting to see the best offence in the comp up against one of the best defences. Big Mal on Potter or Bloomfield (if playing) while the midfield battles between the likes of Nayna and Hislop will be awesome. Here's hoping for another one like the Strathmore v Abers clash earlier in the year, but going on recent results it wouldn't suprise me if this one was a blow-out.

Really looking forward to tomorrow and seeing the gorillas fire. Greenvale really in their groove with Rock in year two however the gorillas are getting better each week as a team so it'll be a cracking contest!! Jorgo and Raines in for the Jets with Farrelly and I'd guess Johnson out. Bloomfield will come back through the reserves tomorrow. Big two weeks for the Jets - Abers and Strathmore and vice versa for Abers - Jets and Pacco.

Belter of a game at Greenvale today. Greenvale got on top early and it looked like a matter of how far until the second quarter when Aberfeldie kicked up a gear and took over the game to go in at the main break ahead by 2 points. Greenvale then lifted a notch in the second half to give themselves some breathing room as they regain control of the game and kick away to a 6 goal victory. Abers used the ball better and were damaging with their spread from stoppages whilst Greenvales strong point was that they were a lot harder at the contest. Nayna was dominate for the first quarter with nearly everything going through him but after that Norris was moved onto him and he stifled his impact from there on in. Fanning was near on unstoppable at times and when up forward was simply too big for the Greenvale defence kicking 2 goals for the game. Houli was strong down back and intercepted a large number of kicks into the Greenvale forward 50. For Greenvale Daniel Burns was great and provided plenty of rebound from defence, Gazzo kicked 4 for the Jets and got under the skin of the Abers defence on a number of occasions, Raines racked up a lot of the ball in his return game and was really good at spotting up targets inside forward 50. Umpiring was poor both ways so atleast it didn't really have an impact. Looking forward to another huge game in a couple of weeks time against Strathmore.

ROUND 8 GREENVALE V ABERFELDIE, Greenvale Reserve
Another great win by Greenvale against tough opposition on Saturday. The Jets jumped their opponents early slamming on five goals to nil to hold a 32 point advantage at quarter time. The margin could have been even more if not for a couple of near misses from set shots. Nonetheless, the Jets dictated the play with a high tempo and great spread which looked to have taken Abers by surprise. Great run was provided by the likes of Daniel Burns and Dean Smith while star player Rowan Nayna pulled the strings in midfield. Gazzo was very lively up forward kicking two early goals and the big centre half back Matthew Smith was ever reliable down back with his trademark strong marking and cool head.
The second quarter saw the Gorillas respond in style to absolutely dominate their hosts, winning nearly every centre clearance and gaining ascendency in the contested footy to completely overturn the margin by the main break. After the Jets kicked the first goal Abers finally got going to kick the next six majors in an amazing display. The introduction of Ned Daniher in the centre bounces allowed big Dave Fanning to go to full forward and provide a target while the Abers midfield started to win the clearances. Quick-fire goals at the end of the quarter had Abers leading by two points at half-time. The only negative being the injury to Damian Peverill which ended his game.
The Jets had been tested for the first time all year and needed to respond. As you would expect from such a good side they came out firing, booting five goals to two in an exciting third term. The Jets took calculated risks that paid off more often than not. They backed their midfielders who won a number of crucial contests and hit up their array of forward targets with sublime efficiency. The quarter saw end to end play and some very high standard football by both teams but ultimately the Jets class shown through on the big ground. Some crucial misses from Abers and a goal after bell to Gazzo meant the lead was out to 17 points going into the last quarter.
The last quarter again saw both teams take risks but ultimately the Jets made fewer mistakes and punished their opponents on the rebound. A brilliant boundary line goal by Zac O’Brien, his third for the match, probably confirmed him as Abers best player while Nayna continued to dominate in the middle of the ground to arguably be Greenvale’s best. The main difference between the sides was that when it mattered the Jets got the vital goal or won the crucial contest to ensure they won the game. Abers can take a lot from their second quarter but will be disappointed they could not produce a four quarter performance. The run and spread of Greenvale was very impressive but when Abers got on top in the contested football it was not as prevalent. The ability of Greenvale to rebound from defence really hurt the Gorillas who struggled to maintain forward line pressure all day. With both teams still to have star players to return, the next game at Clifton Park could be even better not to mention the top of the table clash between the Mores and Jets next round.
FINAL SCORE:
Greenvale - 16.12 - 109
Aberfeldie – 10.12 - 72
BEST PLAYERS:
Greenvale – Nayna, M.Smith, D.Smith, D.Burns, Gazzo, Zumbo etc
Aberfeldie – O’Brien, Craven, Mangan, Fahey, Michael, Cattapan, El Houli

Spoke to a Douttas person yesterday who was still shattered about the loss. Will not get over it in a very long time.
Should have been over at half time, Douttas hit the post a few times & missed a few easy ones.
The game was turned on it's head when Shylo Smith was injured, Joey Laverde was put to half back & dominated.
Livo kicked one from nowhere & Marby charged home.
