Missed the first half of the game against Avondale Heights due to work. Greenvale were up by 3/4 goals at half time and proceeded to make it a 100pt win. Kuret was brilliant up forward and Clifton provided a great target, unfortunately Avondale picked up a knack of going the man while he was standing under the ball.. Avondale couldn't match the height of Wight in the ruck who put it down the throat of the Greenvale mids at will. Aloi and Chris Johnson were also lively up forward kicking 4 and 3 goals respectively. A plus side for Avondale was that they were pretty efficient at converting their forward entries into scoring attempts. If they manage to find a few talls they will be a lot better for it going forward as they have some talented running players.

Two sides that clearly don't like one another faced off yesterday when Greenvale faced Maribyrnong Park yesterday, Greenvale were 4-6 goals up for most of the day, until the 4th quarter when Marby came charging back to level the scores. In the end the Jets managed to hold them off to get up by 2 points. Greenvale finished the game with one man on the bench after Spinella (hamstring) Campo (groin) and Jorgo (accidental elbow to the head). Best for both sides imo were: Clifton, destroyed Boyd and Boyle. He could have kicked a few more if not for poor kicking/unselfish play. Kuret, quiet by his own standards but nearly everything that went greenvales way had his fingerprints on it. Rohan, toughest player in the comp by a mile, took a number of key marks going back with the flight of the ball. An extremely underrated player. Uysal: his second game for the year back from Coburg, won plenty of the ball and used it with precision.
Lee: really stood up when the Lions needed him to in the absence of Ayres and co. Whichello: did a fantastic job on the dangerous Thompson. Desousa: despite playing on bigger opponents tried hard all day and provided great link up play for the Marby side. kicked a great goal across his body from 50. Kotzur: One of a handful of Marby players who stood up across all 4 quarters, showed why he is so highly regarded.

Great wrap up there Freak and well done to both teams & coaches on a great performance.
BEST PLAYERS chosen by the EDFL broadcast team -
Greenvale - Ben Clifton, James Rohan, Chris Johnson, Ozgar Uysal and solid games to D.Smith, P.Lenne, E. Kuret, M.Smith, N. Raines and R. Fandrich.
Marby Park - Trent Lee, Murray Boyd, Kev Whichello, James Philpot (a great game vs Cam Wight & Potter), Corey Brown, Jayden Kotzur and Marcus Smith & Simon Cave both were solid.
The loss of Jorgonson early & no Burns brothers, Gazzo & Aloi for Jets were noticed. Marby had a massive amount of talent missing with Ayres, Holland (both expected this week), Barling, Hollow, Livingston, Laverde, McLynn, Smith and Black all noticeable absents.
Well done to Greenvale FC on a great win against their rivals (with Strathmore & Keilor) Marby Park.

An undermanned Greenvale got up over Doutta Stars on the weekend by 38 points. Nick Raines was clear best on ground, racking up plenty of the ball. Jon Morris did a great job on Jacob Thompson It was noticeable at times that the Jets lack a real focal point up forward, instead relying on a spread of goal kickers with Zumbo and Wright kicking 4 & 3 goals respectively. Doutta look really good in possession with great run and link up play, the only concern may be that they seem a little too keen to get on the end of others work so a number of times they got hurt going the other way after a turnover or missed shot. That'll be sorted out in time as they seem a reasonably young side.

Greenvale are still getting the job done in recent weeks, despite injury concerns. For mine, they are the Premiership favourites and will beat Strathmore on the big stage. The Jets have the best backline in the comp and have depth in the mids.

The Jets handed out a heavy loss to Oak park on Saturday, The first half was a close encounter withe the Greenvale side going into half time 15points clear. After the main break though the Jets kicked clear to win by 102 points. Kuret was good through the middle and Potter & Rohan were great across half back. A positive sign was that Greenvale managed to have 14 goal kickers which will make them hard to match up on come finals time. Sciberras, German and Kennedy were the best for Oak Park.

Unfortunately I did not get to this game on weekend but by all reports was a really tough slog which could've gone either way. James Rohan was fantastic along with usual suspects Matt Smith, Nick Raines and Eric Kuret. For Abers, Peverill, Edwards were great on return from injury along with the in form Johnno Mullins and Zac O'Brien. The only negative for the Jets was the tweak to the groin of star player Trav Jorgensen, but he is confident he will be right for finals. A missed opportunity in the Abers goal square late on was a major talking point though the result for both teams was not vital given they are both assured of their current positions on the ladder. With both teams missing some stars a replay of this match in finals would be fantastic for the EDFL, but there is still a lot that can happen before then.
Freak, have you got more info on this one? Sounded like a great game in terrible conditions.
FINAL SCORE:
Aberfeldie - 5.10-40 Greenvale - 5.11-41

You've summed it up pretty well. Unfortunately the weather/ground condition ruined what should have been one of the games of the season.

Shocking news to not only the Greenvale FC, but the EDFL to lose Travis Jorgonson for the remainder of the 2012 season.
Rated by just about all as one of the best in the competition, the injury last week at his junior ground Aberfeldie will see him play no more in the 2012 season.
Anthony Rock said "the club has moved forward and acknowledge Jorgo's loss, but with a full list to choose from other than one or two they are very confident of a very strong end this season".

Big week for the Greenvale Football Club with three sides playing off for Premierships, to go along with the U18 Div 3 flag won a few weeks ago. Expecting three great games of footy on Saturday, so get down to Windy Hill and drag some mates along to witness some of the best local footy has to offer. Go Jets!

Continuing on from a big few weeks for the club. Nick Maric and Ozgur Uysal (4 goals) were great in the Coburg development sides premiership, with Uysal named best on ground and Maric kicking the match winning goal.

The Jets are trying to secure a recently delisted Richmond player. A Greenvale player is trying to use his ties with a recently delisted Essendon player to get him to the club. Both signings are dependent on the players not being picked up in te draft.

Greenvale have secured former port melbourne and vfl team of the year player Stephen Brewer. He'll be a good addition for the Jets.
